What a season!  Still one game to play, but victory in a double header away at Prees (who were no pushovers by the way and put in a really good performance - particularly in the second game where they were arguably the better side first half) gave us the points we needed to secure a unique Shropshire League treble with us now holders of the Futsal, Charity Cup and League titles; brilliant effort from these girls.....well done everybody! If that wasn't enough, they went on to win the Walsall Wood U13s tournament on Sunday as well.  Superb!  Bring on some more summer tournos….

A tense affair played out by 2 very good sides; a few of us were getting very nervy towards the end as it was a close run contest, but the girls saw it out to the end.  Well done everybody....
Franco Said: Congratulations to the girls on winning the 2018-19 Shropshire Charity Cup yesterday.  The girls did us proud once again.  We have now secured a double and we are now on the cusp of winning the league to make it the treble which is a tremendous achievement. We could argue that our game plan, formation and tactics got us the victory, but for me, all the credit goes down to the girls. The girls have bought into what we are trying to do on the pitch.  They’ve had to stay disciplined during tight games even if it has sometimes meant that they have had to sacrifice where they like to play and how they like to play football.  A superb season girls, now let’s go and finish it off by winning the league on Tuesday.                      🐾⚽👍🏼🏆🏆                            🤞🏆🏆🏆

Franco Said: It was a really good workout today for our girls and a huge credit to them all once again.  I thought our girls performed to a high level and both teams played good football.  The other team’s coaches genuinely wanted us to join their league for next season even though our girls are 1 and 2 years younger than theirs: says it all really.  👏👏⚽ Bring on the cup... 🏆🤞

Franco Said: Another superb performance from the girls today, they all deserve huge credit for coming through another tough test.  We all knew it was going to be a tight match so at training the other day we focused heavily on corners and free kicks.  So, when we scored from two corners and kept a clean sheet it was really satisfying to see that our set pieces came off for us today.  🐾⚽👍
View from the lino: Tough game today but  we battled and got a deserved win,  all over the pitch 1-11 today did their jobs, some games to go but we are looking confident and strong👍👍

Franco said: Another really good performance and important victory today.  All eleven girls gave 100% in a match where even though we dominated in midfield - both defences deserve credit for cancelling out each other in the main.  With outdoor training starting we’ll be able to work on our possession and attacking game a lot more over the next few weeks.  ⚽🐾👍

Very good performance and an important win that lifts us up to top spot for the first time this season….
Franco said: An excellent result today.  The girls gave a really good all round team performance where we dominated from the off and deserved to win the game by a big margin.  We played some good football on the floor, got our shots away and earned our rewards with loads of goals.  ⚽👍🐾
PS We are doing well and we just need to keep it going because if we lose a couple of games due to complacency then there’s no way that we can win the league.

Really nasty conditions today; fair play to all the girls who took part and in particular those who suffered 'knocks' and had to lie around in the cold waiting to be seen to.  A big pitch, torrential rain and a fierce cross wind; I feared the worst at one stage when an excellent finish by their No 17 got them level, but the girls dug in when they needed to.  3 important points won....

Franco said: Another excellent result from the girls today in tough conditions.  The girls battled brilliantly especially when we had a lot of injuries to contend with.  They stood firm, recomposed themselves and went on to win a testing game.👍⚽🐾

Bore draw, lol!  Actually a very entertaining game of football against a well organised Leicester side;  sadly no goals today, although the Foxes had the ball in the net only to have it ruled out for offside. A good workout for our girls against decent opposition..
Franco said: An excellent display all round today, the teamwork was superb.  It was the first ever 0-0 I’ve ever seen in grassroots football but a brilliant match nonetheless.  Well done to both teams. 👏⚽🐾

TNS (h) 2 - 2
Well done to TNS, who were first to every ball and ran us ragged at times.  Pure hard work got them back into the game at 1-1 before a an excellently hit strike gave them a well deserved lead.  I think our girls were a bit rusty after a long lay off over the festive period as they looked lacklustre for long spells (too many chocolates and late nights girls!), but 2 excellent goals from A5 and K8 saved our blushes; we may have even snatched the points in the end but for an injury time strike against the post.  That would have been harsh on TNS though, so a draw perhaps a fair result in the end.  Bring on the next game.

Franco said (censored): I agree that conditions were tough going today and it didn’t really suit our style of play.  We got the three points, dug in and kept a clean sheet thanks to R’s great save at 1-0.

Captains Log (HEAVILY CENSORED): Well played today x Not the best conditions on the field. Hard to hit the target as well as goals were small. We were unfortunate and had a couple chances but not the best today because of certain reasons, but we go back next week strong and hoping for a good result x 🤞

Great start to the season and a much improved performance after last week, but still so much more to come from you girls.  Fair play to Albrighton though; decent outfit to be fair and  it was a better contest than the score line suggests. Well done gals 👍🏼🐾🐾⚽⚽

Huffed and puffed a bit this week girls; a stark contrast from last weeks performance, but fair play to our opponents who have come on a long way since we played them in September so well done to them and especially their goalie who had a great game.  A win nevertheless which takes us through to the cup semi against TNS on 08/12.....COYP!.

Tough test today and our ladies looked a bit out of sorts for once.  It was a big ask for some of he girls playing against boys  a year older and it was not our day this time; we live and learn.  Good to see the new girls getting a first run out, but under difficult circumstances - this will get easier girls so don't worry!
Franco said: Well done to A and R on their debuts today, it wasn’t ever going to be easygoing against a boys team. I thought that we battled quite well for twenty minutes until we conceded the first goal.  I also think that our next match is against a girls team so hopefully we’ll see a big improvement in two weeks time.

Brilliant game again today girls - spot on.  Some terrific football on display on the pitch today and some amazing cake on offer on the sidelines (thanks Kate! - Ginger Fudge cake is my favourite btw).  Good to see some Bovril on offer finally, so thanks to whoever sorted that out!  Well done to the girls also for having a stint in goal so B could get her first goal of the season. Get in.
Finally, got to say, well done to Shifnal girls who never gave up under difficult circumstances. They gave it their all to the very end and never stopped smiling throughout. You are a credit to your club and your coach and should be very proud; keep going - it WILL come!

Many thanks to Wrockwardine for their hospitality on Saturday. Great game and a tough contest fought by two terrific sides on the season opener.  Panthers beaten only by the width of a post following a great effort from K8. Great effort girls.  We go again next week. Grrrrr!
Top tip: Don't go in that 'bowl' thing if the ball goes in there - there is no way out unaided!​
