Forest Falcons(h) 3 - 5 Darren said: No complaints about the result today, despite taking the lead through the improving AA, Forest Falcons scored twice in 5 minutes to lead 2-1 at the break. 2nd half saw us get back on level terms when IR was bundled over in the box. KS calmly converted from the spot. Despite chances it was the away side who retook the lead from a free kick. IR equalised after pouncing on a goalkeeper mistake, but it was Forest Falcons who claimed the 3 points with a great team 4th goal and an injury time rebound from a penalty after JH had saved the 1st effort. Time to lick our wounds and bounce back quickly next week or our season could end up to be a poor one after some very promising performances prior to this.
Matchday 14- 2/02/2020
Forest Falcons(a) 6 - 6 Darren said: We raced into a 3-0 lead with goals from LF, IR and AA, however the home side were a good physical side who had chances, they hit back with a goal just before half time. With the warning ringing in their ears JN superb looping heading from a corner looked to have put the game in the bag. However 5 unanswered goals in 15 minutes for the home side as we totally collapsed made it 6-4 to Forest Falcons, IR then scored his 2nd from close range and with a minute to go SM connected a with LF to tie the scores again. It was a mixture of concern for how we imploded in the 2nd half but how we showed character to come back in the final few minutes.
Matchday 13- 26/01/2020
Bearwood Sports(a) 3 - 3 Darren said: The wind played a part in today’s game and a slopey pitch; 1st half was back to the walls as we were against the wind. However Lewis Fellows gave us the lead after 15 minutes with a superb low shot into the bottom corner. The home side equalised after a goalmouth scramble. Lewis Fellows then restored our lead but seconds before the break the home side were awarded a penalty after the Bearwood striker decided to do a forward triple rotation with twist. From the restart we rattled the post from close range, minutes later Bearwood were in front after a header from a free kick found the corner. To their credit Bearwood defended their box well, but we were turned down several penalty shouts, Bearwood defenders seemed to enjoy wrestling bouts with Lewis Fellows. 10 minutes from time Ismael Rowe got our equaliser slamming the ball into the net from close range. Despite being on top and being frustrated by the home side, the lads kept battling and driving for the winner, unfortunately it was not to be. The result puts a big dent in a top 2 finish though.
Matchday 12- 19/01/2020
Halas Hawks North [CUP](a) 5 - 4 Darren said: Unfortunately we were on the wrong end of a 9 goal thriller against opposition 2 divisions higher; Thando Sibanda struck from close range after 15 minutes, the game swung however when Halas struck twice in a minute. Munash equalised after a scramble in the box, Halas though scored twice just before half time to give them a cushion going into the break. 2nd half we pushed on and Lewis Fellows reduced the deficit to one, then 10 minutes from time he went one better and equalised with a smart low shot, our breaks were broken though minutes later when Halas struck the winner. Despite a barrage of pressure we just couldn’t find the equaliser and bow out of the cup competition. So proud of the lads for pushing our opponents so close.
Matchday 11- 12/01/2020
Bilbrook North(h) 5 - 1 Darren said: Another impressive performance again today from the lads against Bilbrook North. Around 15 minutes in and Lewis Fellows made no mistake from the penalty spot after being brought down in the box. Bilbrook equalised with a far post header, minutes later though Panthers were back in front Lewis Fellows with a ferocious finish into the top corner from a tight angle. Thando Sibanda made it 3-1 with a smart left foot finish, then moments before the break Shiv Mahey netted from close range to make it 4-1. Aria Asmaei made it 5-1 before Shiv Mahey scored a beautiful 25 yard free kick to put the cherry on the icing on the cake and continue our excellent form.
Matchday 10- 08/12/2019
AFC Woodcross(a) 1 - 5 Darren said: Today we were up against AFC Woodcross Away in the league who had a 100% record. The home side took the lead after about 20 minutes after miscommunication in the defence, an equaliser just before half time from Shiv Mahey completely changed the game. 2nd half we were stronger and completely bossed it. Lewis Fellows and Ismael Rowe helped themselves to two goals each as we ran riot and smashed AFC WOODCROSS’s unbeaten record to smithereens. Another fantastic display and still gives us an outside chance of a top two finish.
Matchday 9- 01/12/2019
Bilbrook North(h) [CUP] 3 - 0 Darren said: Our Under 16’s were in cup action today and are safely through to the next round after a 3-0 victory against Bilbrook North. 2 goals in a minute towards the end of the 1st half from Jake Pestridge and Ismael Rowe put us in the box seat. Aria Asmaei’s late goal sealed the victory, but in truth it wasn’t our best performance and we will have to do much better to beat AFC Woodcross next week. MOTM Kyle Russon.
Matchday 8- 17/11/2019
Black Country Phoenix(h) 7 - 0 Darren said: Our Under 16’s gave out a real roasting to the opposition today against several of our players and management old club. We started brightly with Shiv Maher netting in the first few minutes. Harry Brookes spectacular volley made it 2-0 20 minutes later, Lewis Fellows made it 3 with a composed finish, just before half time Thando Sibanda got in on the act. The 2nd half we started as brightly as the 1st with Lewis getting his 2nd, 5 minutes later he completed his hat trick, calmly converting from the penalty spot. Ismael Rowe completed the scoring and if the truth be told it could have been more. The clean sheet was pleasing. All the players were focussed, professional, it was a superb polished performance. Well done boys 👍
Matchday 7 - 10/11/2019
Wednesfield Hammers(a) [CUP] 5 - 2 Darren said:We were in cup action again against Wednesfield Hammers, we took the lead early through Lewis Fellows after a great start, 3 or 4 brilliant chances came and went and we were left to rue those chances. An excellent team goal from the Hammers levelled things up. 2 further goals from the home side made it 3-1. Injuries were sustained to Saif, Jamie and Harry but the lads never gave up, despite then going further behind there was a glimmer of hope went Ismael Rowe’s smart finish put us back within 2. Aria’s header was agonisingly over the bar before the Hammers sealed the game with a fifth. The home manager was the brother of West Ham striker Tony Cottee and we both wished each other well at the end of the game. So close to causing an upset today.
Matchday 6 - 03/11/2019
Halas Hawks(a) [CUP] 6 - 5 Darren said: Our Under 16’s were in cup action against Halas Hawks East a division higher and raced into a 3-0 lead and looked to be cruising, Lewis, Shiv and Munash on the scoresheet. A sloppy goal gave Halas a lifeline and a 2nd soon followed. The home side then had an opportunity to level but Jamie saved a penalty. Ismael made it 4-2 before Halas replied again just before half time. Lewis got his 2nd with a header to make it 5-3 only for the home side to score again. Shiv made it 6-4, and with less than a minute to go it was 6-5. A thoroughly entertaining match but the management team and parents now need a week to recover!
Matchday 5 - 20/10/2019
AFC Willenhall (a) 2 - 2 Darren said: We visited high flying top of the table AFC Willenhall who had swept aside all before them. After a solid opening half an hour it was disappointing to concede a pretty soft goal, however Lewis Fellows equalised minutes with a superb 25 yard free kick which found the top corner. Minutes before half time the home side edged in front again. Lewis Fellows made it 2-2 15 minutes into the 2nd half with a fantastic touch and calm finish over the goalkeeper. Both sides had chances to win it and on reflection a draw was probably fair. However the home manager did say we were the better side which was nice to hear. This result proves what can be achieved by our team. An excellent performance.
Matchday 4 - 06/10/2019
AFC Woodcross (h) 1 - 3 Darren said: We started very strongly again and had several chances without success, Woodcross took the lead midway in the 1st half with virtually their 1st effort. Early in the 2nd half Avery Livingstone making his 1st appearance after injury powered home a header from a corner to level the scores, minutes later he was adjudged to have fouled in the box, Jamie Hanson saved the resulting penalty. However Woodcross edged in front with some sloppy defending at the back from us. A third was added 15 minutes from time, a cracking 25 yarder sealed the points for the away side and inflicted our 1st defeat of the season. Harsh perhaps but we must be more ruthless in the final third when we have chances. MOTM Jamie Hanson
Matchday 3 - 29/09/2019
Halas Central (h) 4 - 4 Darren said: A really entertaining game which could have gone either way in the end. Jamie Hanson saved a penalty then an own goal put us in front halfway through the 1st half, Halas Hawks equalised only for Lewis Fellows to edge our noses in front again. With the last kick of the 1st half the Away side levelled things up. A penalty earned and converted by Lewis Fellows made it 3-2, but minutes later it was 3-3, Halas Central then made it 4-3 and only a brilliant 25 yard free kick from Lewis Fellows who completed his hat trick gave us a share of the spoils. On the balance of play I think it was 2 points dropped but still unbeaten.
Matchday 2 - 15/09/2019
Wordsley Wasps (h) 4 - 2 A great win - well done lads! Darren said: Our Under 16’s sealed 3 points today at home to Wordsley Wasps East. We were 3-0 up at half time thanks to Lewis Fellows getting a brace and Ismael Rowe netting. However the nerves started jangling when Wordsley pulled 2 goals back. Harry Brookes sealed the points with 10 minutes left. Final score 4-2
Matchday 1 - 08/09/2019
Bilbrook (a) 2 - 2 A good start fom our new U16's team - good work boys! Darren said: Somehow we found ourselves 2-0 down at half time despite having a hatful of chances. The game finished 2-2 with IR and SM finally getting on the scoresheet. When the referee and opposing manager sportingly say we were the better team I guess you feel disappointed. On the other hand if you find your 2-0 down 2-2 seems like a good result. A step in the right direction 🐆🐾💜
