Matchday 17 - 12/3/2023 Coach Said: Under 9s vs Netherton Colts
Controlled the game start to finish really, although we went behind 2 times during the game the Panthers battled back and managed to get the *-* win. An all round excellent team performance and a very happy coach,
Man of the match, Jacob for his excellent defensive work.
Matchday 16 - 5/3/2023
Coach Said: Sedgley Panthers vs Bilbrook Juniors East (H)
Another excellent game from the under 9s today playing Billbrook again, couple players missing from our squad but this made little difference.. quickly gaining a *-* lead finishing the 1st half off comfortably, then early in the 2nd half Billbrook found * goals to bring them back level. A couple of changes made, Panthers then took control of the game and finished with a *-* win, excellent from all the players again today.
POTM Ellis, before the game we knew that Billbrook had 1 very good player, Ellis was tasked with keeping him out of the game and he did not disappoint along with creating plenty of chances for his team excellent all round performance.
Matchday 15 - 26/2/2023
Coach Said: Bilbrook Juniors East vs Sedgley Panthers (A)
Under 9s played Billbrook today and it was an excellent team performance. Going *-* up early in the first half, then giving away a sloppy goal & letting Billbrook get back into the game, but that was soon dealt with as the Panthers pushed on to get a *-* lead heading towards halftime. Billbrook brought an extra player onto the pitch and played the rest of the game with 8 players to our 7, not that this made much difference, we came out 2nd half and found another * goals to make it *-*.. * goals scored by 4 different players very happy with the team performace today 👌
POTM ~ Panther of the match this week is Ellis.. excellent work defensively in a position he isn’t used to and also very good going forward creating lots of chances for the team.
Matchday 14 - 19/2/2023
Coach Said: Well,
A truly magnificent game of football this morning from the U9’s. Controlled the game from start to finish Halesowen didn’t have 1 shot on target but their keeper was kept very busy and almost kept them in the game to get a draw but excellent attitude and persistence saw the Panthers get a *-* win with the last kick of the game..
POTM The whole Squad ~ The commitment, desire and discipline on the pitch was 2nd to none.. these boys really are a credit to the team, their parents and finally, the club.. as I’m sure all Sedgley players are 👌👌
Matchday 13 - 12/2/2023
Coach Said: Wombourne Allstars Bulls vs Sedgley Panthers (A)
Excellent performance today from the under 9s however not the result we wanted. Lost *-* to Wombourne Allstars
Closely contested 1st half with Panthers creating more chances but Wombourne being more clinical and went into half time *-*. 1st goal in the 2nd half came from a corner, one of our defenders won the header but unfortunately it went past our keeper and put us *-* behind.
Multiple attempts at the Wombourne goal come to no avail with their keeper having an outstanding game and a small amount of luck saving a couple of goals he knew nothing about but again taking nothing away from his performance. From there to the end of the game Wombourne found the net another * times. Finishing the game off at *-*
Comments from the referee and coaches of Wombourne were all very complimentary towards the boys and all agreed we deserved more from the game.. but unfortunately their thoughts don’t change the score, never the less proud of the boys for their conduct and attitude on and off the pitch..
POTM was awarded to Harry for his all round work rate, effort, attitude.
Matchday 12 - 05/2/2023
Coach Said: Sedgley White Lions vs Sedgley Panthers (A) Another excellent performace from the under 9’s today. A slow start but saw us go *-* down but it was a closely contested first half against a strong Sedgley Lions team. Half time came and it was still *-*. With a reminder to the Panthers that we can play better and have done in the past, it was agreed that the 1st half was good but we were going to aim and finish the 2nd half being outstanding and the Panthers didn’t disappoint coming out strongly to equalise, then closely followed up with a 2nd to take the lead. Unfortunately 2 minutes from the end of the game White Lions found a well worked goal from a corner to finish the game ,*-*.
Excellent game from 2 teams and a fair result.
POTM Awarded to Eoin, excellent work rate the whole game, never giving up and being a team player
Matchday 11 - 29/1/2023
Coach Said: Halesowen Town Colts West vs Sedgley Panthers (A)
A tough game today against Halesowen with them taking an early * goal lead, but the panthers weren’t disheartened by that they kept pushing and managed to get a goal back before half time, finishing the 1st half @ *-* down.
Into then what was an entertaining end to end 2nd half with both teams going for the win it ended *-* to Halesowen.
Excellent effort from all the panthers but today was just not to be.
POTM was awarded to Lewis who played in a new position today, work rate was excellent and never put a foot wrong.
Matchday 10 - 15/1/2023
Coach Said: First game back this year for the under 9s against Cradley Town North, a brilliant performance all round from the panthers going into half time *-* up. 2nd half the panthers then found another gear and controlled the game through to the final whistle, finishing the game *-* against a team that had been unbeaten all season.
Very proud of our boys and the man of the match today went to Eoin for his hard work in the middle of the pitch winning the ball back for the team.
Matchday 9 - 4/12/2022
Coach Said: Unfortunately it was the first defeat of the season for the under 9’s this week but as it was explained to the boys after the game even the best teams can’t win every week.
After a very good start going *-* up cradley battle back and got a goal just before half time making it *-*.
Into the 2nd half cradley came out strong magetting their 2nd goal which in turn pushed the panthers to get a 3rd putting them back in front, but then cradley with a bit of fortune got the next 3 goals 2 of them direct from a corner and the 3rd with a dodgy bounce in the box taking it away from our keeper into the back of the net 🙈
The result doesn’t reflect the performance in anyway both me and Sam were very proud of the performance and on to next week we go 👍
Matchday 8 - 27/11/2022
Coach Said: Sedgley PantherSedgley Panthers vs Netherton Colts Excellent game today from the under 9s A slow start saw us go * behind in the first 10 minutes but then the boys rallied together working hard with a high press getting * goals back before the break. Starting the 2nd half level again at *-* the Panthers continued their hard work on and off the ball to find another * goals to finish the game off, credit to the Netherton keeper for keeping them in the game could have easily been 6-7 in the 2nd half. Panther of the match today was Connor, for his excellent work rate and following coaches instructions also getting his first goal this season for his team 👌👍 (picture to follow) Thanks Jon and Amanda for coming to watch and Sian for reffing.
Matchday 7 - 20/11/2022
Coach Said: Sedgley Panthers vs Wordsley Panthers North Excellent from our under 9s today, the groups were moved around and it was clear we were against tougher opposition. Getting an early goal going one nil up must have give them the shake they needed. They then put 2 past us going into Half time *-* down.. The boys then rallied together and had multiple chances on and off target before Jack the man of the match found the net with minutes to go earning the team a well deserved draw and continuing the unbeaten run. 👍 POTM Jack for excellent work rate all over the pitch and creating chances for other team mates.
Matchday 6 - 06/11/2022
Coach Said: Sedgley Panthers Under 9’s played Oldbury United today and won *-*.
Excellent performance from the off gaining a * goal lead very quickly. Going into half time *-* we came out strongly 2nd half going *-* infront. Oldbury pulled a goal back *-* then we finished the game *-* .
Excellent teamwork from all the boys they put in a great shift and I have to say all the players preferred no shouting from the sidelines.
Under 9s man of the match.. Riley for excellent concentration and decision making 👍👍
Matchday 5 - 30/10/2022
Coach Said: Sedgley Panthers vs Kingswinford Town Very proud of the under 9’s so far this season unbeaten scored 28 goals conceded 5 👍 POTM Oscar ~ Under 9s player of the match today was Oscar for excellent defensive work winning the ball and helping the team play out from the back with some very good passing.. 🏆⚽️
Matchday 4 - 16/10/2022
Coach Said: AFC Gornal North vs Sedgley Panthers
Game 4 of the season… and I’ll be honest a very entertaining game today.. excellent work from all of our players individually and as a team. Going into half time x-x down was a bitter pill to swallow but credit to Gornal they did work hard and pressure us into some mistakes..
2nd half was a different game.. Panthers came out and dominated the game with the best performance and character of the season to come from behind.. man of the match for todays game goes to a player that told me what he was going to do before the game.. he got his penalty and put it in the net nicely along with some excellent work on the wing faultless performance.. well done Jacob.. 🏆
Finished with an X-X win 🏆
Matchday 3 - 09/10/2022
Coach Said: Sedgley Panthers vs Sedgley White Lions Blue
Well that’s another game played and another fantastic performance from the whole team, every single player pulled their weight today and did the jobs they were asked to do.. a few changes of positions for some of the boys which they adapted brilliantly.
POTM today could have gone to any one of the players but some fantastic footwork from Corey on the wing and getting his first goal for Sedgley panthers earned himself player of the match today.
Secondly thank you to all the parents getting stuck in assembling the goals, respect barrier and then packing away at the end of the game..
See you all Friday 6-7 training at bishop Milner
💜🖤⚽️ PS (webmaster) - Some excellent referreeing on display from Athena x
Matchday 2 - 02/10/2022
Coach Said: Match 2 Gornal Athletic South vs Sedgley Panthers Well what can I say… The boys are an an absoloute credit to both parents and the club from their persofmance and attitude towards the game today. A relatively first coupe of minutes to start the game but from the first goal the the final whistle there were some outstanding performances from all the players individually and as a team.. the front 3 moving the ball around finding spaces and passing. The communication amongst the back 3 players making sure every one was marked up. And the result shows what this team can achieve. Even with 2 extra player for gornal we still had full control of the game and made sure we kept the clean sheet.
Man of the match today was Lewis for some outstanding work both in the attacking half of the pitch and tracking back to help the defence.
If we could post a picture of Lewis with the man of the match trophy that would be great.
