Matchday 13 - 14/03/2020

Newport (a) 7 - 0

Good business like performance today (and a couple of banging goals) to see us through to the semi-finals! A lovely pub at the end of the road as well; we all agreed it would be a great place to self-isolate when the time comes!
Franco said:  Well done to the girls today for getting through to the semifinals of the cup.  We took a while to get going but overall we were in control and created lots of opportunities in the first half but just couldn’t put them all away.  We played really well in the second half once space started to open up and defensively, the girls deserve credit for keeping a clean sheet against a team that usually scores a goal or two against us.  🐾⚽️👍

Franco said:  A big well done to the four girls for stepping in and doing a brilliant job as emergency goalkeepers.  It was an excellent team performance from the girls today, their attitude, effort and passing was superb.  I enjoyed especially the build up phases from the back and they all worked really hard for one another as well.  ⚽🐾👍

Matchday 11 - 15/02/2020

Wrockwardine Wood (a) 2 - 2

Oh my goodness!!!....
Abject first half performance - Wrockwardine were better than us all over the park and tore us to shreds as the girls (and the ref) didn't seem aware that the kickoff had been brought forward by half an hour;  lucky to go in only 2 down at half time. Then 2nd half and what a transformation...no idea what JD said, but a couple of tactical changes and we were a different team altogether; after an early scare it was virtually one way traffic and we could have won it in the end. Awesome girls; to comeback like that in those awful conditions shows incredible character. Well done everybody!

Started brightly first 10min before some sloppy timing of tackles cost us ,found ourselves 2-0 down at half 😡.  Team talk was straight to the point at half time win the battle tackle harder and let’s get back in this game .
2nd Half we stepped it up 💯 % switching the two centre backs to  centre midfielders.  Got back in the game 2-1, quickly became 2-2 to there credit this was two top sides playing football at very high level ,pure domination 2nd half hitting the post in the last 5 min .
Franco said: A fair result today considering they were the better team first half and we clearly controlled the second.  The conditions definitely played their part as the team playing with the wind seemed to dominate.  Overall, it was a gutsy fightback by the girls and it helped us maintain our unbeaten run in the league.  More importantly, even though there’s a long way to go, hopefully this result will help us to get that one step closer to winning back to back titles. 🤞🐾⚽👍
View from the lino:  Horrible conditions, horrible first half with our work rate and desire not up to opposition’s but 2nd half we dominated and tackled, passed well , played for each other and got a result for our effort. 👍

Matchday 10 - 8/02/2020

TNS (h) 4 - 2

Slow to start, but we grew into the game and the girls looked good in places. Always going to be a tough game against top of the league, so 3 points well earnt.  Well done ladies!
Franco said: It was a big game for us today so credit to our girls for getting the result that we needed.  We battled well and won most 50 /50 balls which was a key factor in helping us get the win.  Even though we tired and switched off a bit towards the end our girls seemed to put all of their chances away today which was the biggest difference between the two teams today in my opinion.  🐾⚽👍
View from the lino: Great result , not in game for first 20 mins but dug in and created 2 good goals , in control for remainder of match; conceded 2 sloppy goals but quality shone threw with a great forth goal . Well done to all👍

Church Stretton [CUP] (h) 11 - 0

Some nice football on display today; we need to build on this with 2 tough games coming up in the next couple of weeks. Well done to R for her POTM performance (and 3 goals) - hope you enjoyed your Chutney! Happy birthday JD!

Well done to the girls today for getting through to the next round of the cup.  I thought we looked to attack quickly when we won the ball and mixed the passing really well trying to use both flanks.  I thought the talking was good today and the decision making was excellent - passing to a team mate when in a better position or taking the shot on from distance when isolated.  ⚽🐾👍

Wasn't pretty, but another 3 points on the board. Well done to OO for her POTM performance.
Franco said:  Another good league result for the girls today.  We created a lot of chances and the movement in the last third was creative.  We lacked a bit of fluency in the centre of the park but overall a good three points gained today.  ⚽🐾👍
View from the lino: Good win today , could have had a couple more but credit their keeper. Pitch didn’t help our passing game , they defended well , good to get another game under our belt and Look forward to next week👍

Wrockwardine Wood [CUP SEMI FINAL] (a) 3 - 2

No excuses...second best all over the pitch today against a well organised Wrockwardine side that our girls found difficult to break down. Just not our day - best of luck to Wrockwardine in the final. Well done to M9 for her POTM performance.
Franco said:  It was a hard fought contest today where the girls gave it their all.  We had lots of clear cut chances and just couldn’t convert them all today.  We need to continue to improve on our fitness but overall no complaints, it was the opposition’s day, good luck to them in the final.  🐾⚽👍
View from the lino: Wasn’t our day today , Wrockwardine just edged it today but one thing our girls always do is fight to the end and never give up. 

Matchday 6 - 04/01/2020

TNS (a) 1 - 2

After what seemed like a never ending lay off, the girls were finally back at it; understandably looked  a bit rusty first half  but seemed to galvanize after the break and were knocking on the door for much of the dying stages before finally bagging a much deserved winner in the final minute.....get in!
JD said:  Amazing performance today from everyone; probably our best win if I’m honest as a team on a football pitch. Loads ill and not well 🤧 even me, but not the best 1st half performance - slow, sluggish and disjointed.
2nd half wow 🤩 to dominate a team unbeaten on their own pitch was pure class; these girls are marvels, everyone one of them - go from strength to strength.  True sign of champions elite.

Franco said: ⚽😊I’m really proud of all of the girls today, especially for their battling display in the second half.  In the first half we looked a bit sluggish and the other team dominated us.  The second half it was the other way round.  Once we took control of the midfield by fighting for every ball we created chance after chance until eventually we got our reward.  Well done girls - great result! ⚽👍🐾

Church Stretton (a) [CUP] 2 - 3 (AET)

A tough contest today; fair play to the Magpies who contained us for long periods and deservedly scored a late equaliser to take it to extra time....well done girls, defeat was a little harsh on CS, but at least we were spared a penalty shoot out.  Nice to have a coffee in a real mug for once - so big thanks to the refreshment ladies!

Franco said: The girls tried to play nice, short passing football today so it was a struggle to change our style and play a more long ball game which suited the conditions.  We looked rusty on a tight pitch with small goals which didn’t help matters.  The opposition didn’t seem to mind, so credit to them for catching us on the counter and taking the game to extra time. Overall though, we did dominate and we ended up getting through to the next round which is what we all wanted.  ⚽🐾🏆

FUTSAL 2019 [FINAL] - 26/10/2019
First tournament of the season and our Panther Ladies were victorious....hopefully more to follow; well done girls!

Everything I could ask them they always produce.
Today was not the free flowing football that we watched last week, a few things different perhaps?
1) TNS a better team 
2) different floor surface 
3) footwear issues 
Overall on reflection we win ugly; but it’s a final and we are all winners.
Played in 2nd gear if I’m honest but wow the goals were quality.
A lot of swapping and changes, it was hard to coach on the side, as well as playing the game for both coaches and the girls.

Must have watched the England rugby 🏴󠁧󠁢󠁥󠁮󠁧󠁿 roses 🌹 this morning she was our Rose today amazing girl footballer.
HR - stunning goal she is growing stronger every game this season; never misses training or games and it starting to show in her game now .
AM - amazing saves today and last week, even playing after wrist injury; you're a credit to your team mates this week . 
Everyone else was also super 👌
Two years running winning this is unbelievable achievement thank you all 🐾💜🖤⚽

A pleasure to play in this league and spread a positive football message to girls in the Shropshire area; meeting some lovely people and seeing some great talent develop, long may it continue....

Franco said: It was a really enjoyable game of football to watch today where the passing and movement was fast flowing and pleasing to see.  The through balls, crosses and decision making were excellent and it was nice to see that every player looked for a team mate rather than kicking the ball away and conceding possession.

Matchday 2 - 14/09/2019

Shrewsbury Up and Comers (h)  9 - 2

I felt the scoreline flattered us a little, although we were in the ascendancy second half as tired legs started to show on the Shrewsbury  girls.  The Shrews twice drew level in the first half hour and looked a real threat going forward; will cause problems for some teams this year for sure.

Great to get the season off to a winning start - and a perfect hat-trick from our new captain.  Get in. Grrrrr!
